St. Louis, May 8, 2002
— Actor, director and activist Christopher Reeve will address students graduating from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis during the School’s Commencement Recognition Ceremony on Friday, May 10.

Best known for his role as Superman, Reeve has continued to both act and direct despite an equestrian accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. In his first major role since becoming paralyzed, Reeve produced and starred in a new version of the Hitchcock thriller “Rear Window,” for which he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

As founder and chairman of the board of the national, non-profit Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, Reeve supports research investigating new therapies and potential cures for spinal cord injuries and other central nervous system disorders. He also is vice chairman of the National Organization on Disability, which works on improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
